What to Expect in Your First Therapy Session at Petals of Peace

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, and maybe even a little intimidating. You might be wondering: What will we talk about? Will I have to share everything right away? What if I don’t know what to say? These are common concerns, and the truth is, your first therapy session is about having a safe and welcoming space where you can simply begin.

At Petals of Peace, your journey is guided at your pace. In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other. I’ll ask you a few questions about what brought you to therapy, what your goals are, and how you hope counseling will help. You don’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes, just knowing you want things to feel different is enough.

We’ll also take time to address any questions you may have about the process. For example, many people think therapy means constantly digging into the past, but that’s not always the case. Together, we’ll focus on what matters most to you, whether that’s managing stress, working through tough emotions, or building self-confidence. I use approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and person-centered counseling, which means your voice and story will guide the work we do.

Most importantly, therapy at Petals of Peace is tailored to you. Just as no two flowers bloom the same way, your healing journey will look unique from others. The "peace" in Petals of Peace reflects the calm, supportive environment I aim to create; it’s a space where you can show up as your authentic self without judgment.

Your first session is not about having it all figured out. It’s about planting the first seed. From there, we’ll nurture growth together, at your pace, toward the peace and confidence you deserve.

Therapy should be a collaborative process that is tailored to the individual client.
